SymptomSurvey team formed!

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. The Vaccine Safety Initiative teamed up with Families Fighting Flu and Make Mothers Matter to study an important question: We want to learn which symptoms of COVID-19 and flu-like illness matter most to patients and caretakers - and why!

When designing the SymptomSurvey we were able to leverage decade worth of experience researching the severity, impact and burden of influenza and other respiratory viruses:

The Vaccine Safety Initiative (VIVI) is an international non-profit research organization focused on improving the way we prevent and manage infectious diseases. ViVI combines the innovation technique of Design Thinking with rigorous research in clinical medicine, epidemiology, virology, risk analysis, regulatory affairs and social sciences.

The SymptomSurvey combines ViVI’’s subject matter expertise on influenza, COVID-19 and flu-like illness with the critical voices and extensive experience of two advocacy groups:

Founded in 2004, Families Fighting Flu (FFF) is a national, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) advocacy organization dedicated to protecting children, families, and communities against the flu. FFF includes families whose loved ones have suffered serious medical complications or died from influenza, as well as other advocates and healthcare professionals committed to flu education and prevention.

Make Mothers Matter (MMM), formerly known as Mouvement Mondial des Mères/World Movement of Mothers, is an international NGO established in 1947 at the UNESCO in Paris. MMM act through advocacy, network and communication. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Make Mothers Matter is, as ever, primarily concerned with mothers and families. MMM acknowledge that the consequences are far from uniform: this crisis also exacerbates inequalities and leads to unprecedented economic, health and educative challenges.
